The City of Fort Saskatchewan Council will be holding a public hearing on a proposed Land Use Bylaw Amendment to amend the C5 – Fort Mall Redevelopment District.
The C5 District is a special district that provides development regulations for the redevelopment of the Fort Station Mall Site, which is located in the Downtown neighbourhood, west of 108 Street, north of 98 Avenue, and south of 99 Avenue, as shown on the Location Map (Attachment A).
Details of the Proposal:
- Amend the C5 – District to add “Education (Public)” as a Discretionary Use.
- Elk Island Public Schools applied to amend the C5 District.
- The amendment would enable development of the Heartland Skills and Learning Centre at the Fort Station Mall Site. The proposed location of the skills and learning centre is the former “Jump” location (Attachment A).
- The proposed amendment aligns with policies of the Municipal Development Plan and Downtown Area Redevelopment Plan that support a mix of commercial, residential, and institutional uses within the Downtown.
