The City of Fort Saskatchewan Council will be holding a public hearing about changes concerning a proposed development in the Forest Ridge area. This involves rezoning land to Comprehensively Planned Residential District (RC), and Forest Ridge Street-Oriented Residential District (FRSO) to develop Low and Medium Density residential development.
Details of the Proposal:
- Rezone approx. 3.0 ha (7.4 acres) of land to RC – Comprehensively Planned Residential District to allow for the development of single detached and semi-detached dwellings.
- Rezone approx. 0.5 ha (1.2 acres) of land to FRSO – Forest Ridge Street-Oriented Residential District to allow for the development of compact townhouses.
- The subject lands, currently districted as UR – Urban Reserve be changed to Comprehensively Planned Residential District (RC), and Forest Ridge Street-Oriented Residential District (FRSO).
- Size of the area affected: Approx. 3.5 hectares (approx. 8.5 acres), as highlighted in Schedule A of the proposal.
- On January 27, 2026, Bylaw C2-26 received first reading.
Purpose:
The amendment will rezone lands to develop low and medium density residential development. This will allow for a wide variety of housing options, including detached and semi-detached dwellings and two-storey townhouses on compact lots.
