Who can apply?

For most residential improvements in a single-family dwelling, a homeowner can apply for electrical, plumbing, or gas permits if they live in the home and are completing the work themselves.

For all other projects, including those in duplexes, multi-residential homes or commercial properties, a licenced and certified contractor is required to apply for these permits.

How much does an electrical, plumbing or gas permit cost?

We price electrical, plumbing & gas permits using the Fees & Charges Bylaw. Permit costs depend on the type of work, cost of work or finished area.
